Windows 7, if your wireless connection is REALLY SLOW this is most likely why..

Recently I decided it was time for a new laptop, a Thinkpad L420.

I really love navigating by the trackpoint, and touchpads annoys me, so that mostly left me with the Lenovo ThinkPads to choose from.

ThinkPad L420 is one the cheapest ThinkPads but still very capable: Intel Core i5, 4GB Ram , 320 GB disc...and of course a great keyboard.

Starting the ThinkPad up was all a positive experience except browsing was unbelievably slow and some websites would never fully load.
Trying with a wired connection everything was fast and great.. Very frustrating and searching the internet didn't seem to give me an answer.

Finally I found the solution. Apparently my wireless router at home does not support the 802.11 power save protocol and when Windows 7 runs its advanced Power Plan in a power saving mode problems arise.

Opening up the Power Options, selecting Wireless Adapter Setting and Power Saving Mode, and the changing the setting to Maximum Performance everything worked great again
